UK Sport commission Neon for report on Elite and Super Elite athlete development.
Neon commissioned by UK Sport for ‘Great British Medallists’ study.
Neon have been asked to help UK Sport bring to life a comprehensive and in-depth study of ‘Great British Medallists’ — a project designed to provide unique insight into the developmental biographies of Elite and Super Elite GB athletes. The findings will be shared across the wider UK Sport and elite sports community.
This ambitious, multi-disciplinary study employs cutting-edge research methods that set a new benchmark for talent development research. Its findings are expected to have far-reaching implications for coaches, performance directors and practitioners working to develop and support Britain’s most successful athletes.
The study compares athletes’ training and competition experiences with psychosocial factors such as motivation, drive and personality — using sophisticated and innovative data analysis to understand what truly defines a Great British Medallist.
This exciting commission follows on from Neon’s previous work for UK Sport, including our collaboration on Lizzy Yarnold’s success study and the elite Strength & Conditioning resource website (confidential, so sadly we can’t share it).
If you’d like to know more about this project, or if you have a project/pitch/roster review you’d like to discuss with us, we’d be absolutely delighted to hear from you.
