Neon developed the new 60th Anniversary signature, using the Thames & Hudson dolphin colophon, which was to appear on every branded item for that year. The title of Neon’s initial book of marketing ideas for the year, ‘Sixty years of making a splash’ was adopted by Thames & Hudson as the 60th Anniversary year strapline. Neon’s involvement in the Thames & Hudson 60 years of making a splash project included a wide spectrum of other projects, from a range of limited edition reprints, to literature and in-store branding. Action for Children National Children’s Hour 'When the big hand reaches for the little hand'. Action for Children the UK children's charity were to launch a new campaign about raising the awareness of the huge need and value to children (through extensive research) of having a least an hour a day play and interaction and activities with their parents or guardians. They needed an identity to help promote the campaign and ideally strike a chord with parents and guardians about the value and importance of this hour to children.The solution? The approach was to create a typographic mark, using the Action for Children red, that indicated the one hour a day with the clockface integrated within the O of the word hour - with the hands subtly inferring an adult with the big hand on the clock and a child peeking out from behind as the little hand on the clock.To add an emotive element to the mark it was married with a play on words with our line “When the big hand reaches for the little hand” to help makethe connection between parent and child. The typographic styling a wood print styling to help reflect the hands on nature of some of the children’s actives hand made printing etc. and to help it feel less corporate. The new mark has helped strongly brand the campaign, in promotional pledge posters,literature for activities for parents and children to try at home, regional after school kids hour events and TV and social media. The D&AD Xchange programme provides a unique opportunity for the heads of the UK’s top creative educational institutions and courses to mix and meet with some of the world’s leading design practitioners — with two days of talks, case study presentations and lively debate, presenting a broad range of respected creative views and opinions. D&AD’s brief? To create a campaign theme and signature graphic to promote the D&AD Xchange programme event — supported by posters, on-line graphics along with promotional literature, event graphics and ticketing. Our solution, the D&AD Mix Creatively campaign, taking the iconic D&AD mark and making it quite literally ooze with creative thinking, bringing to life all that creative talent mixing together with a painterly approach. Well, not exactly confusing them – let’s say, giving them something to enjoy puzzling over. That was the idea behind this little series of typographical conundrums we produced for long time client Nabarro LLP, all intended to bring to life the firm’s well established brand promise, Clarity matters. The concept was originally devised to appear on display screens in the firm’s new offices. But it quickly became clear that fine legal minds were enjoying the challenge of decoding our hidden messages. At which point, the argument for running the Nabarro Clarity Matters Typographic Conundrums as an ad campaign in the trade press became - well, an open and shut case. For up-and-coming jewellers, The Goldsmiths’ Company’s annual New Designers exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talents. With a very tight turn-around time, we were asked to create a simple yet elegant “welcome” stand to introduce the new designers, and direct visitors to each individual jeweller’s exhibit. We were rather pleased with the outcome, particularly the dot-screen frames, which looked convincingly three-dimensional, while also giving visual coherence to a disparate collection of supplied images. Kantar Worldpanel’s Entertainment division briefed us to create a promotional campaign that would communicate a complex offer to the film production and film distribution industries. As the platforms used by audiences to access films continue to change and multiply, it’s increasingly important for the industry to keep on top of consumers’ attitudes and behaviour. Worldpanel can track the entire release cycle of every new film, and the platforms it is watched on — from cinema, VoD, or set-top box to Blu-ray and DVD — enabling film producers and distributors to increase their profits through better platform and promotional targeting. Conceived within the existing Worldpanel corporate style, our solution was a print and online ad campaign based on witty juxtapositions of famous film titles with the names of all the latest viewing platforms...
